WINTER NOTICE AND CANCELATION POLICY

Backland typically closes seasonally for January and February but we are testing opening for Valentine's Day weekend only for this event. We need at least 6 reservations for this event to go live. While we expect this event to sell out quickly we reserve the right to cancel the event and fully refund any reservations if we do not have at least 6 reservations by February 4th.

Valentine's Getaway Cancellation and Deposit Policy

A deposit equal to the full price of your reservation is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable, However, if a guest requests a cancellation and refund Backland will make reasonable efforts to resell the canceled spot. If Backland is able to sell all available tents, Backland will refund either 95% of the deposit, or the amount that the spot was resold for, whichever is less.  Early departures or no-shows are chargeable at the full amount of the deposit.

The road to Backland is part of the adventure, but it may not be for everyone. The last 8 miles (around 15-20 mins) of your trip will be on scenic and beautiful unpaved Forest Service roads. These roads are graveled, well-maintained, clearly marked, and are suitable for most vehicles. We do not suggest motorcycles or ultra-low clearance sports cars.  Four-wheel drive is generally not necessary, though it is required in icy/snowy conditions. You can expect there to be some washboarding on the roads and depending on the weather an occasional shallow puddle. After your trip to Backland your car will likely be dusty (or muddy if it has rained). A trip to the car wash will probably be necessary if you have rented your vehicle. If you are anything like us, you will find the destination is well worth the trip.

Because Valentine's Day is in the winter time, snowy or icy conditions may exist. Refunds will only be made if Backland determines, in its sole discretion, that a standard 4x4 or AWD vehicle would be unable to reach the site. This would typically only occur in an unusually heavy snowstorm.
