Grand Canyon Fire Update
We have received numerous calls from people wondering if Backland was affected by the fires on the North Rim of the Canyon. Gratefully, Backland was not affected by these fires. It is roughly a 4-hour drive (or 80 miles as the crow flies) from Backland to where the fires were. Air quality also remains unaffected.
If you are planning a trip to the Canyon, fortunately, all south rim services and visitor centers remain open, safe, and unaffected by the fires. The South Rim is the most popular and well-developed area of Grand Canyon National park, so you can be sure you will get the full Grand Canyon experience on your visit.
